Dr. Matthew R. Prince is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with additional fellowship training in Orthopedic sports medicine.

Dr. Prince completed his undergraduate degree in Physiology at the University of Colorado. He received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. Matt completed his orthopedic surgery residency through Michigan State University at McLaren Oakland and the Detroit Medical Center. Following residency he continued subspecialty training with his fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the Mayo Clinic.

While in fellowship Dr. Prince assisted as Team Physician for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Minnesota Twins, and Rochester Ice Hawks. Surgically he focused on complex arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee.

His practice focuses on both surgical and non-surgical management of general orthopedic and sports related injuries. He has special interest in joint preservation and arthroscopy of the shoulder, hip, and knee.

Dr. Prince is an assistant clinical professor for Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a Team Physician for the U.S. Ski Team and the U.S. Freestyle Team.

He has published numerous articles and textbook chapters on surgical management of multiligamentous knee injuries, meniscal tears, and cartilage injury.

He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons – AAOS, Arthroscopy Association of North America – AANA, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine – AOSSM, and the American Osteopathic Association – AOA.
